Introduction
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Barista to join our vibrant coffee outlet in Balikpapan. As the face of our brand, you will craft specialty coffee beverages, create a welcoming atmosphere, and ensure every guest leaves with a memorable experience. This full‑time position offers a dynamic work schedule from 08:00 to 08:00, seven days a week, providing ample opportunity to hone your barista skills in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee‑making equipment to prepare high‑quality espresso‑based drinks, pour‑overs, and cold brews in accordance with standardized recipes.
- Deliver friendly, attentive service by greeting customers, taking orders accurately, and answering questions about menu items, bean origins, and brewing methods.
- Execute up‑selling and cross‑selling techniques, suggesting pastries, seasonal drinks, and merchandise to boost average ticket size.
- Handle point‑of‑sale (POS) transactions, process cash and card payments, and reconcile daily sales reports with precision.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including regular cleaning of equipment, countertops, and dining areas to meet health and safety standards.
- Assist in inventory management by receiving deliveries, rotating stock, and notifying management of low‑stock items.
- Participate in weekly staff briefings, sharing feedback on customer preferences and contributing ideas for new beverage offerings.
- Uphold brand standards by ensuring consistent drink presentation, proper cup sizing, and correct labeling of allergens.
Requirements
- Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent; a background in hospitality or culinary arts is a plus.
- Age 27 or younger; must not be currently enrolled in a full‑time academic program.
- At least 1 year of proven experience as a barista in a café, restaurant, or similar setting.
- Strong mental and physical health, capable of standing for long periods and handling peak‑hour rushes.
- Excellent communication skills, a genuine service mindset, optimism, and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and willingness to be stationed at our Balikpapan outlet.
- Proficiency in operating coffee‑making equipment, knowledge of coffee bean varieties, and basic latte art skills.
