Introduction
We are seeking an experienced Kepala Pemeliharaan dan Perawatan Tanaman serta Hewan Villa to lead the horticultural and animal care operations of our luxury villa estate. This senior position reports directly to the Villa Operations Manager and is responsible for maintaining pristine garden landscapes, ensuring the wellbeing of resident animals, and overseeing all related administrative and technical tasks. The successful candidate will combine hands‑on gardening expertise with strong leadership, planning, and communication abilities to create an inviting, sustainable environment for our guests.
Responsibilities
The role is divided into three core areas: plant care, animal care, and administration/technical support. Each area includes a range of routine and project‑based duties.
- Plant and Garden Care (Gardener)
- Maintain all ornamental plants, lawns, flower beds, and vegetable gardens to achieve an immaculate, aesthetic appearance year‑round.
- Develop and execute seasonal planting schedules, including soil preparation, fertilization, irrigation, and pruning.
- Implement integrated pest‑management (IPM) programs, monitor for pests and diseases, and apply environmentally‑friendly controls as needed.
- Keep garden paths, patios, pool decks, and all outdoor spaces clean and free of debris.
- Design and adjust landscape layouts, selecting appropriate species for micro‑climates, shade, and visual impact.
- Coordinate with external suppliers for seedlings, mulch, and specialty plants.
- Animal Care
- Provide daily feeding, watering, and enrichment for villa‑resident animals (birds, small mammals, fish, and occasional livestock).
- Maintain clean cages, enclosures, feeding stations, and surrounding areas to prevent disease.
- Conduct regular health checks, monitor behavior, and administer first‑aid or arrange veterinary visits when required.
- Maintain accurate records of feed consumption, vaccinations, and health observations.
- Administration & Technical
- Prepare annual maintenance plans, budgets, and material requisitions for fertilizers, seeds, animal feed, and equipment.
- Track inventory, ensure timely re‑ordering, and control costs against the approved budget.
- Perform routine inspections of irrigation systems, power tools, and safety equipment, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Generate monthly performance reports, evaluate outcomes, and propose improvements to increase efficiency and sustainability.
- Lead, train, and schedule a small team of gardeners and animal‑care assistants, fostering a collaborative and safety‑focused work culture.
Requirements
- Minimum education: D3/D4 in Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in a villa, resort, or high‑end residential setting, with a proven track record in both plant and animal care.
- Strong knowledge of ornamental plant varieties, soil science, irrigation techniques, and pest‑control methods.
- Understanding of basic veterinary care, animal nutrition, and welfare standards.
- Leadership abilities: experience supervising a small team, delegating tasks, and providing constructive feedback.
- Excellent communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and basic English, essential for coordinating with guests, vendors, and management.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for up to 11 hours per day (07:00‑18:00, Monday‑Saturday).
- Integrity, reliability, and a meticulous eye for detail.
