Responsibilities
- Assist the Cook or Kitchen Leader in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, chopping, marinating, and portioning.
- Maintain strict hygiene standards by cleaning workstations, equipment, and kitchen surfaces according to health‑code regulations.
- Operate basic kitchen tools and appliances such as ovens, grills, fryers, mixers, and slicers safely and efficiently.
- Support the assembly of dishes during service peaks, ensuring timing and presentation meet the restaurant’s standards.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, report shortages, and help with simple stock‑taking tasks.
- Follow all food safety protocols, including proper storage temperatures, cross‑contamination prevention, and waste management.
- Participate in daily briefings, taking note of menu changes, special orders, and any special dietary requirements.
- Continuously improve culinary knowledge by observing senior cooks, attending on‑the‑job training, and studying basic cooking techniques.
- Assist in the set‑up and breakdown of the kitchen before and after each shift, ensuring all equipment is stored correctly.
- Contribute to a positive team atmosphere by communicating clearly, respecting fellow staff members, and adhering to shift schedules.
Requirements
- Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent; a focus on Culinary Arts (Tata Boga) is highly preferred.
