Introduction
We are seeking a talented Professional Book Layout Designer to join our dynamic publishing team in Sleman, Yogyakarta. The role focuses on creating high‑quality interior layouts for print and digital books, ensuring that every page reflects our brand’s visual standards and enhances the reader’s experience. This full‑time, on‑site position offers the chance to collaborate with editors, cover designers, and production staff on a diverse range of titles, from academic textbooks to literary works.
Responsibilities
- Design and arrange interior book layouts using Adobe InDesign, maintaining a consistent visual hierarchy across chapters.
- Integrate text, images, tables, and graphics while adhering to typographic best practices, appropriate font choices, spacing, and alignment.
- Collaborate closely with editors to incorporate feedback, ensuring accuracy, readability, and compliance with publishing standards.
- Work hand‑in‑hand with cover designers to guarantee a seamless transition between cover and interior aesthetics.
- Conduct thorough proofing and quality checks, correcting any layout errors before files are sent to print or digital distribution.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends, new design tools, and emerging standards for both print and e‑book formats.
- Assist the production team with file preparation, export settings, and pre‑press requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum education: D3/D4 or S1 in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of professional experience as a book layouter or in the publishing industry.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign; solid working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong understanding of typography, grid systems, and visual composition specific to book design.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to meeting project timelines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; able to receive and incorporate constructive feedback.
- All genders eligible; no age limit.
- Availability to work on‑site (WFO) in Sleman, Yogyakarta, Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.
