Introduction
School Bina Maju Bangsa / Bent Tree School, a progressive educational institution located in Sunter, North Jakarta, is seeking a passionate Music Teacher (Guru Musik Sekolah Menengah) to inspire students across primary, junior, and senior secondary levels. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 07:00 – 16:00, providing a balanced schedule that allows for classroom instruction, lesson planning, and collaborative activities with colleagues and parents.
Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles and skill levels.
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with national plus and international curricula, incorporating theory, performance, and cultural appreciation.
- Curate and maintain a variety of teaching resources, including sheet music, audio‑visual aids, and digital tools to enhance classroom interaction.
- Assess student progress through formal evaluations, informal observations, and portfolio reviews, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
- Manage classroom behavior by establishing clear expectations, fostering mutual respect, and implementing positive reinforcement strategies.
- Organize and lead school concerts, talent shows, and community outreach events that showcase student achievements.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, department heads, and school leadership to integrate music across interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate actively in parent‑teacher meetings, providing updates on student development and recommending enrichment opportunities.
- Stay current with emerging music education trends, technology, and pedagogical research to continually improve instructional practice.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- At least one year of proven teaching experience in a primary, junior, or senior secondary setting.
- Fluent in English—both spoken and written—to effectively communicate with a multicultural student body and faculty.
- Proficiency in multiple instruments such as guitar, drums, recorder, keyboard, and traditional Indonesian instruments like angklung.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, composition, and ear training, coupled with a genuine love for music.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse educational environment.
- Creative, dynamic, and hardworking mindset, with a willingness to innovate lesson delivery and extracurricular activities.
- Experience in national plus or international schools is highly preferred.
- Age limit: maximum 40 years; gender: open to all.
