Introduction
We are seeking a diligent and detail‑oriented Operator and Technician for Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) to join our growing environmental services team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our wastewater treatment facilities operate efficiently, comply with stringent environmental regulations, and protect the surrounding community from pollution. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with domestic IPAL/STP systems, a solid understanding of water quality standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with government agencies and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and fine‑tune all mechanical and electrical components of the IPAL to maintain optimal performance.
- Conduct daily visual inspections of pumps, aerators, clarifiers, and control panels, reporting any deviations immediately.
- Collect and analyze water samples according to standard methods, documenting parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, and nitrogen/phosphorus levels.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, shift reports, and incident records in both paper and digital formats.
- Diagnose system alarms, troubleshoot process upsets, and implement corrective actions in accordance with SOPs.
- Coordinate with the local Environmental Agency (Dinas Lingkungan Hidup) for inspections, sampling approvals, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist senior engineers in commissioning new treatment units, upgrading existing infrastructure, and implementing process improvements.
- Participate in emergency response drills, ensuring readiness for spills, power failures, or equipment malfunctions.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and conducting regular safety briefings.
Requirements
- Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent for operator/technician level; S1 in Environmental or Chemical Engineering for supervisory/leader roles.
- At least 3 years of proven experience operating and maintaining domestic IPAL/STP installations.
- Strong knowledge of IPAL processes, wastewater quality standards (Baku Mutu), and relevant Indonesian regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with government agencies, clients, and internal teams.
- Physical fitness and good mental health to perform demanding field tasks and shift work.
- Female candidates only, as specified by the client’s gender requirement.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently during night or weekend shifts if required.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry, report generation, and equipment monitoring systems.
