Introduction

The Team Harvesting – Field Operations and Yield Management position is a pivotal role within PUSKESTAN, a leading agricultural development organization dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers in the Solo Raya region. The successful candidate will coordinate harvest schedules, conduct on‑site surveys, and ensure that both the quality and quantity of rice yields meet the stringent standards set by our program coordinators. This role demands a blend of technical agronomy knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to improving the livelihoods of farmers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute harvest timelines for farmer groups under the PUSKESTAN program, aligning resources with seasonal calendars.
  • Conduct comprehensive field surveys to assess crop maturity, pest pressure, and readiness for harvesting across the assigned jurisdiction.
  • Implement harvest procedures for rice in strict accordance with coordinator directives, ensuring proper use of mechanized and manual tools.
  • Monitor and record both quantitative yield data and qualitative indicators such as grain moisture content, grain size, and overall field health.
  • Weigh harvested produce on‑site, verify measurements against field records, and report any discrepancies to the data management team.
  • Maintain all harvesting equipment, perform routine checks, and enforce cleanliness standards in the harvest area to prevent contamination.
  • Provide real‑time feedback and technical support to farmers, addressing challenges such as equipment failure, weather impacts, or labor shortages.
  • Collaborate with logistics personnel to arrange timely transport of harvested rice to processing facilities.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to continuous improvement of the harvest protocol.

Requirements

  • Male candidates, aged 25‑35 years, with a minimum of a D3/D4 (associate) degree; a diploma or bachelor’s in Agroteknology, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least one year of hands‑on experience in agricultural operations, preferably in rice cultivation or harvest management.
  • Solid understanding of agronomic principles, crop monitoring techniques, and modern harvesting equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of empathy for farmer partners, enabling effective communication and trust‑building.
  • Possession of a personal vehicle and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Solo Raya region.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines under varying weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in basic data collection tools and familiarity with agricultural software for yield tracking.
  • Commitment to uphold safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
