Introduction

We are seeking a motivated Senior Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team in Siantar. This role is pivotal in supporting the head cook and ensuring smooth daily operations within a fast‑paced restaurant environment. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and contribute to a collaborative team spirit that upholds the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the cook in preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, and portioning.
  • Execute basic cutting, trimming, and simple plating tasks under the cook’s supervision.
  • Maintain strict cleanliness of the kitchen area, utensils, and storage facilities, adhering to HACCP and local health regulations.
  • Support cooking processes by following detailed instructions, timing dishes, and ensuring proper seasoning.
  • Monitor inventory levels, label stock, and arrange pantry items for easy access and rotation.
  • Participate in daily kitchen briefings, reporting any equipment issues or supply shortages promptly.
  • Assist in setting up workstations before service and perform thorough clean‑up after each shift.
  • Contribute ideas for menu improvements, portion control, and waste reduction initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: High school diploma (SMA/SMK) or equivalent.
  • Age: 18–30 years old; gender preference: male, though female applicants are also encouraged.
  • At least 1 year of hands‑on experience in a restaurant or F&B kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly, accurately, and safely in a high‑volume setting.
  • Strong work ethic: disciplined, punctual, and eager to learn new cooking techniques.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; able to follow directions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards, knife skills, and kitchen equipment operation.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate loads (up to 20 kg).
