Introduction

The Koordinator Operasi Pelabuhan – Jetty & Transshipment plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of cargo through one of the country’s busiest ports. This position is responsible for orchestrating the complex interplay between vessel movements, cargo handling equipment, and multiple stakeholders including shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs authorities. The successful candidate will act as the operational hub for jetty activities and transshipment processes, guaranteeing that every ship is serviced efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with national and international maritime regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily vessel arrivals and departures, ensuring berth allocation aligns with cargo priorities and draft limitations.
  • Supervise loading and unloading operations as a loading master, verifying cargo stowage plans, weight distribution, and stability calculations.
  • Maintain real‑time communication with ship masters, terminal operators, and logistics partners to resolve bottlenecks quickly.
  • Prepare and review all operational documentation, including cargo manifests, safety checklists, and customs paperwork.
  • Monitor compliance with safety, environmental, and security standards, conducting regular inspections of jetty infrastructure and handling equipment.
  • Lead a team of marine crew and on‑shore personnel, providing coaching on best practices in cargo handling, emergency response, and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives aimed at reducing turnaround time, minimizing cargo damage, and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Produce daily and weekly performance reports for senior management, highlighting key metrics such as vessel turnaround, crane productivity, and incident records.
  • Negotiate service contracts and rate adjustments with shipping agents, ensuring the port remains competitive while protecting profitability.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during operational incidents, coordinating emergency response, reporting to authorities, and managing post‑incident investigations.

Requirements

  • Male candidates preferred, with a maximum age of 36 years.
  • Minimum education: D3 in Nautika, Kepelabuhanan, or equivalent (ANT‑3 certification or comparable).
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Loading Master Marine, demonstrating strong command of cargo stowage and vessel stability principles.
  • Minimum 2 years of service as a cargo ship officer (perwira pelayaran), providing hands‑on familiarity with vessel operations and crew management.
  • Operational supervisor certification is highly desirable; possession of a Loading Master certificate is a strong advantage.
  • Proficient active English communication skills, both written and spoken, to interact with international partners.
  • Demonstrated negotiation abilities, with a track record of securing favorable terms for port services.
  • High degree of loyalty, professionalism, and integrity, supporting the company’s strategic goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading diverse teams and fostering collaborative relationships.
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Saturday, 08:00‑17:00, with occasional overtime during peak seasons.
